I cannot believe it’s almost February!!! And that means it’s almost Valentines day! Today, I’ll be showing you how to make this beautiful Valentines wall art. It’s so simple and easy, yet elegant, so I know you’ll love it! So why don’t you get out your paper, pens, and make this thing!
1. Cut Out the Heart Template
Taking a normal piece of paper, fold it in half and draw half of a heart on it with a pencil. Then, following your pencil guidelines, the the half heart. When you unfold it, it should be a whole, symmetrical heart!
2. Trace the Heart Onto Your Paper
Unfold your heart template and trace it very lightly onto your paper. I’m using this Strathmore Spiral Tan Toned Sketch Book to give the piece a more earthy vibe. However, if you wanted to try black with white pen or normal white paper with black pen, I’m sure it would look super cool too!
3. Lightly Sketch Your Design
I know it’s kind of hard to see in the picture above, but fill in the heart with some words and draw in some swirls and lines around the outside of the heart very lightly with pencil. (Be especially light if you’re going to use a white pen on top!) I wrote part of the verse “…but the greatest of these is Love” inside the heart using faux calligraphy. (To learn how to do faux calligraphy, see this super helpful post that I learned by!)
4. Now Trace Over Everything With a White Gel Pen
I used this super cool white gel pen to trace over everything. It’s the only white pen that I’ve been able to find and it works surprisingly well. Trace carefully, erasing any pencil lines that are really dark. Add in dots periodically and feel free to add more swirls and curvy lines to fill it in!
Now you have a beautiful Valentines wall art piece that you can proudly display. You could even use this idea to make a card!
I hope you’ll try this some time! Thanks for reading!
